Coming from such a large city, there is a whole lotta nothin out here. Today I spent the day exploring and figuring out where to make money. I ended up in Dubuque Iowa for most of the day. The population there is around 60,000 vs the 1,500 that is Stockton, IL so I thought that would be a better place to work. It turned out okay!
It's almost an hour from where I'm staying but there is no stop and go traffic so it feels like much less. I was day dreaming at a traffic light today and no one even honked. Much less aggression about things. The radio stations are mostly country and Jesus talk so I've been going through my Phish CDs. I paid $3.44 for a gallon of gas today and thought that was wonderful.
I also had lunch at Taco John's because an Iowa friend said I should. It was okay. Got to see an ex employee go off on the manager and they messed up my food. Probably won't go back.
I stopped and saw President Grant's house on my way back. (Pics on my Instagram, link in bio) Not sure why I'm obsessed with stopping at Presidential sites, but I've been to a lot of them. I'm also the kind of person who stops for world's largest rocking chair and other weird roadside attractions.
We're going to Stocktons newest restaurant tonight. I think it's called Pit Stop. Should be an exciting Monday. 🤣 Trying to adjust to this slowed down life. I'll be back in Chicago Wednesday afternoon until Friday night. Let me know if you want to see me. Much love ❤️
